Habitat
N. ogeche occurs in natural communities such as cypress-gum ponds, floodplain forests, shrub tree bogs, river-sink areas, lake shores, swamps, and streambanks. It will grow in mesic soils or even in shallow water.[2]
Associated species of N. ogeche include Nyssa aquatica, Taxodium distichum, Acer rubrum, Nyssa biflora, Panicum hemitomon, Cephalanthus occidentalis, Quercus nigra, Quercus phellos, Quercus laurifolia, Cyrilla racemiflora, Salix nigra, Alnus serrulata, Physocarpus opulifolius, and Hymenocallis gholsonii.[2]
