Habitat

In the Coastal Plain in Florida, N. advena can occur in ponds in pine-oak forests, ditch ponds, and still water in rivers (FSU Herbarium). Associated species include Brasenia and Nymphaea (FSU Herbarium).

Flowers May through November and fruits in September (FSU Herbarium).
