Habitat

In the Coastal Plain in Florida, S. auriculata can be found in limestone glades, limestone outcrops, limestone woodlands, in between limestone glades, mixed hardwood forests and oak-hickory woodlands (FSU Herbarium). Substrates include dry loam, sandy loam, and calcareous areas (FSU Herbarium).
