Rhynchospora chalarocephala can be found in pine savannas, open depressions in oak-hickory woodlands bordering titi, thickets boardering lakes, seepage slopes and bogs, bogs, open pine flatwoods, pond edges, swampy thickets, boarders of swampy woodlands, margins of sinkhole ponds, boggy savannas, edges of cypress swamps, and stream edges (FSU Herbarium).
