L. lucidum has been found in and along ecosystems like pine-oak-maple woodlands, hickory-oak-pine woodlands, mixed deciduous woodlands, edges of limestone glades, pond borders, creek borders, and lake shores. It prefers mesic, loamy or sandy soil with shaded conditions. L. lucidum will also occur along forest edges, cultivated in lawns or hedge rows, in ruderal areas, and along fence rows.[2]
Associated species of L. lucidum include Ligustrum sinense, Frangula caroliniana, and Crataegus pulcherrima.
