Habitat
In the Coastal Plain in Florida, P. rugelii can occur in wiregrass/saw palmetto/pine associations, cypress bays and flatwoods marshes. It has occurred in disturbed areas such as cleared pine flatwoods and a bayhead recently timber harvested (FSU Herbarium).
